When you'd reach for it

  • Choosing a card mid-checkout

    The badge appears in the corner of supported shopping sites as soon as the page loads, showing the merchant it recognised, the card name and the rate. Close it with the x and it stays hidden for the rest of that browsing session in the tab. The popup keeps the last recommendation, so you can check it again after the badge is gone.

  • Food delivery and cabs, where rates diverge

    A card that is ordinary on Amazon can be the strongest one on Swiggy, and the reverse happens too. Swiggy, Zomato, Uber and Ola are each matched as their own merchant, so the ranking changes when you move between them rather than lumping them into one category. Grocery on BigBasket and travel on MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip and Goibibo are handled the same way.

  • Sizing up a card before applying for it

    Leave the wallet empty in the popup and the ranking runs across all eleven cards in the bundled table instead of just yours, labelling the winner as a suggestion. Where two cards earn the same rate at a merchant, the one with the lower annual fee comes out on top. Each row in the popup shows that fee, or No fee.

Single purpose

On supported Indian shopping and checkout sites, recommend the best credit card (from the user's own cards) for the current merchant, shown as an on-page badge. The extension does not scrape, crawl, or fetch anything; it only detects the current merchant from the site you are already on.

storagePaisaVasool uses the storage permission to remember which credit cards the user owns and the latest per-merchant recommendation, saved locally via chrome.storage.local. This lets the extension recommend the user's best card on the next visit without re-entering anything. No data is transmitted externally.

Which shopping sites does this chrome extension work on?

Thirteen Indian domains: amazon.in, flipkart.com, myntra.com, ajio.com, swiggy.com, zomato.com, uber.com, olacabs.com, bigbasket.com, tatacliq.com, makemytrip.com, cleartrip.com and goibibo.com. Anywhere else, nothing runs at all. Tata Cliq is grouped with the Tata merchant rules, and the three travel sites share one travel merchant entry.

How does it decide which card is best?

It matches the site's hostname to a merchant and a category, then scores each card by the highest rule that applies. A merchant-specific rule, say 10% on Swiggy, beats a category rule like 5% on food, which in turn beats the card's base rate. Cards on the same rate are separated by annual fee, lowest first.

Do I have to enter my credit card number?

No. You tick card names from a fixed list of eleven in the popup, and only those identifiers are saved, as a list of short ids in chrome.storage.local along with the most recent recommendation. There is no field for a card number, expiry or CVV anywhere in the interface, and nothing about your purchases is read.

What permissions does it request?

One API permission, storage, plus host access to the thirteen merchant domains listed above. Storage holds your ticked cards and the last recommendation; the host access lets the content script run on those sites. It reads location.hostname to work out which merchant you are on, and does not read page content, prices or your cart.

Are the reward rates accurate and current?

Treat them as approximate reference figures, not a quote. The rates live in a table bundled with the extension and are representative rather than pegged to live bank terms, which change with caps, exclusions and periodic revisions, so the badge itself carries a reminder to check your card's terms.
